The Jesus Pages: The Preacher Man

Matthew 3

John knew his mission and his message was clear. His packaging was odd, but that didn't keep the people from rushing out of town to confess their sins. He was not a slick salesman. He didn't sugarcoat the bitter pill; he told the truth and let that change the hearts. He let people know that the Lord was coming to town NOW! You better be ready! Something had to change - not their clothes but their hearts. NOW! And the people came and repented of their sins.

The religious leaders - well, I wonder if people ever rushed up to them to confess their sins. Yeah, right. They came out to the desert and you can only imagine their shock - their time was up and John let them know. Truth is painful and they didn't like it.

The Jesus Pages is my journey through the New Testament in one year. I invite you to come along, read the Bible passage and leave comments. (If it's nasty or unrelated, I reserve the right to delete it.)
